Somali Baati: Embracing All Bodies

At Marai Styles, we believe fashion should be inclusive. Our Somali baati collection is designed for every shape and size, ensuring everyone can enjoy these beautiful garments.

The Beauty of the Baati

The baati is a timeless garment in Somali culture, symbolizing elegance and tradition. Characterized by its flowing silhouette and vibrant patterns, it can be worn for various occasions, from everyday wear to special events.

One Size for All

Currently, we offer the bacyare style in our baati collection, designed in a one-size-fits-all format. This universal fit celebrates body diversity while maintaining comfort and style. A plus-sized woman may prefer the bacyare for a snug fit, while a petite woman might enjoy it for a more flowy appearance. It all comes down to personal preference.

We are excited to announce that we plan to expand our offerings in the future to include more styles, ensuring that everyone can find their perfect baati.

Understanding Width: Types of Baati

For reference, here are the three types of baati based on width:

  • Bacyare: The smallest size, with sleeves resting on the upper arm—great for a fitted look.
  • Haafbac (or bacdhexe): Features elbow-length sleeves, providing a balance between coverage and style.
  • Bacwayne: Sleeves cover the entire arm up to the wrists, more commonly found in diracs.

Comfort, Style, and Confidence

Crafted from high-quality, breathable fabrics, our baati allows for ease of movement and flattering fits for all body types. Each piece empowers your individuality, helping you feel beautiful and comfortable while honoring Somali heritage.
